Day trips from Marbella

Getting there

Marbella has no railway station, so every one of these starts on a bus. Granada is the surprise: a direct through service, no change. Seville is not, whatever a search box implies.

Questions

Is there a direct bus from Marbella to Seville?

No. Every route changes in Málaga: an Avanza bus to Málaga, then a Renfe train or an Alsa bus onward to Seville. Confirmed from both operators' own timetables, which list no through service.

Is there a direct bus from Marbella to Granada?

Yes. Avanza runs through services (lines that continue from Algeciras via Marbella and Málaga to Granada) three times a day, at 22,12 euro, with no change required.

How do you get from Marbella to Ronda without a car?

A direct Avanza bus, four times a day, 8,23 euro, about 85 minutes derived from the printed timetable.

Can you get to Gibraltar from Marbella by bus?

As far as La Línea de la Concepción, yes: nine Avanza departures a day, 9,33 euro, about 75 minutes. From there it is a walk across the frontier, and Gibraltar's own tourist board states a valid passport is required.

Does the Tarifa to Tangier ferry still run?

Not with FRS, which discontinued the Tarifa-Tangier Ville route in May 2025. Balearia still operates it, about an hour's crossing, published from 70 euro one way.

How this was read

Every fare comes from the operator's own fare table; every departure count from the operator's own timetable. Avanza's printed timetables give clock times, never a duration, so a journey time marked with an asterisk is arithmetic on a printed row rather than an operator-stated figure. Granada and Seville are treated differently on purpose: Avanza's own line register lists through services to Granada calling at Marbella, and no service at all to Seville, confirmed by checking both timetables rather than assuming either.
