Sunbed index 2026: the findings
A historical summer 2026 sample of 7 paid venues averages €131 per day for two people, before extra fees. The index was rebased on 11 August 2026; later source checks appear in individual notes. It is not a representative average for the coast or a current booking quote. Another 4 venues were recorded without a published rate at that review.
What the figure measures
€131 averages the advertised base prices in a sample of 7 paid venues: two sunbeds plus minimum spend where required, or a single bed package for two people. Fees and extras are excluded. The products and applicable weekdays differ, so this is a comparison of entry options, not identical products.
Playa Padre lists a standard bed at €120, including required consumption, so two cost €240 before the service charge stated on its rate card. Amàre Beach advertises day passes from €69.50 per person, or €139 for two, with part returned as food-and-drink credit. La Sala by the Sea lists its basic beach bed at €20 Monday to Wednesday, or €40 for two. At Ocean Club, €300 buys one package seating up to three; it does not buy two separate beds. Five findings
- Dearest, and no longer a mystery
Ocean Club, Puerto Banús: €300 for one entry bed package seating up to three, the highest base price in this sample. It includes a bottle and accommodates two people on one bed. The additional minimum spend from Friday and on special events is specified for the VIP rows, not these entry packages. The sheet excludes Champagne Parties from its prices.
- Cheapest paid, off an official menu
La Sala by the Sea, Puerto Banús: €40 for two Chill Out Single Beach Beds at €20 each, the lowest paid base price in the sample. The official menu limits that price to Monday to Wednesday, outside special events and bank holidays; towels cost extra.
- Where the two units still diverge
Playa Padre, Amàre Beach and La Sala by the Sea each sell a genuine single unit at a real, published price: €120, €69.50 and €20. Our beach-club pages quote those single prices; this index prices two of the same unit, so each pair of figures sits about double one another. Neither number corrects the other; they measure different things on purpose, and Amàre Beach's single figure is a “from” price rather than a flat rate.
- Where the price lives, and who counts as the venue
The historical sample includes prices from the venues’ own booking platforms: Nikki Beach (via SevenRooms) and Bono Beach (via PremiumGuest), labelled “via” beside the source. The September check could not reconfirm Nikki Beach’s old rate because its page no longer displayed a price. Bono’s September booking rate differs from the August observation. Those historical rows are retained with explicit notes; neither is presented as a freshly verified high-season quote. At the 11 August 2026 review, Trocadero Arena, La Cabane, Puente Romano, Purobeach were recorded without a published rate.
- The free option is still free
Public beach, All of them: €0 for public beach access, not for a hired sunbed. Bring your own towel. The free-access row is excluded from the paid sample average.

Method, exclusions and limits
Prices read from each venue's own website, published rate card, or the booking platform the venue itself sells through, which is labelled “via” wherever the price appears; see each venue's source_url and verified date in sunbed.json. This is a historical summer sample of advertised base prices, not a current booking quote or a representative average for the coast. Products and applicable weekdays differ; additional fees are excluded. Later source checks and rates no longer displayed are disclosed in the venue notes. Booking affiliates and aggregators are not used. The index was rebased on 11 August 2026 and covers summer 2026; individual notes record later observations. September source checks did not establish a new comparable high-season price for every venue.
The mean covers 7 paid venues only. Public beach access is excluded. Selected high-season weekday base rates include required minimum spend but exclude additional fees. Applicable weekdays differ: some Friday prices are higher.
No year-on-year figure is published. The earlier €79 average used a different set of venues and measurement method, so it cannot establish a rise or fall against €131.
The index is 7 venues wide, which is not a census of the coast. It tracks the clubs people name, so a sunbed priced somewhere it does not list is not evidence the index is wrong, only that the index is narrower than the coast.
No price in this index is an estimate. A price comes from the venue's own site, or from the booking platform the venue itself sells through, in which case it is labelled “via” that platform. Booking affiliates and aggregators are never used: three prices sourced that way were removed on 2026-08-11. A venue that publishes nothing in either place is listed with no figure and a note saying where we looked.
